We are a Saturday morning gathering of women who are homeless in Seattle. Our community is a source of hope, comfort and courage, where women in hard circumstances draw strength from God and from each other.
THE MORNING
From the first cup of coffee
to the last song
8:30 · COFFEE
Coffee is on for anyone who arrives early.
Come when you can.
9:00–10:00 · BREAKFAST
A shared meal, prepared by one of more than twenty volunteer cooking teams.
Singing starts near the end of breakfast.
10:00 · WORSHIP
An ecumenical service with lots of singing. Attending is not required. Some women join the service, some linger over a last cup of coffee, and some leave after breakfast.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where does the Church of Mary Magdalene meet on Saturdays?
We normally gather at the Pastoral Outreach Center, 907 Columbia Street on First Hill – across Columbia from St James Cathedral.
Occasionally we meet at First United Methodist Church, at Second and Denny near Seattle Center. Please check this website for location updates.
(Saturday mornings only – we have no office or mailing address.)
When are breakfast and worship services?
Breakfast is served from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM, with coffee on for early arrivals. Group singing overlaps the end of breakfast. The worship service starts at 10:00 AM.
Do I have to attend the 10:00 AM worship service?
No. It’s fine just to enjoy the meal. The Spirit is present in the dining room and in the worship service.
Why are you named after Mary Magdalene?
Mary Magdalene was prominent among Jesus’ disciples in the early church and is portrayed as the first witness of Jesus’ resurrection.
She found healing as a follower of Jesus, and with her strength restored used her gifts as a leader among the disciples.
We believe women experiencing homelessness have the potential to follow in her footsteps.
Why is it only for women?
A large proportion of homeless women have experienced sexual or domestic violence or other trauma from men. To maintain a relaxed, safe atmosphere, we are women-only.
Transgender women face multiple barriers and are unwelcome in many churches. If you are trans or nonbinary, you’re welcome at the Church of Mary Magdalene.
